Ancient fortress, the seat of my ancestors
A deserted pile of a shell-like ruin
Disturbed by the tales of wails and howling
In the barren valley beneath the limestone cliffs
Spilling forth the scampering demon army
Of the obscene vermin that devoured all in its path
Scurrying rats around bare stone hallways
Creatures of the madness that I must suffer
Burrowing and sliding inside the walls
Far underneath this deepest of cellars
The only survivor of the abhorred bloodline
A strange relic of long-forgotten centuries
Dreams of the twilit grotto thronged with revelers
And their swineherd of beasts wallowing in filth
Visions of their feast like horrors
Performing the hideous rites to the ancient gods
Poised on the brink of frightful revelations
A sensation symbolized by the air of cruelty
Down into the cellar and past the bolted doors
Following the inscriptions towards the indescribable altar
The ghastly sea of human bones, revealing such horror
Skeletons shewed panicked fear
Carrying the marks of rodent gnawing
Postures of demonic frenzy clutching
With cannibalistic intent
Above those hellish steps, a descending passage
A subterraneous world of limitless mystery
Interpreting the architectural remains
Telling the tales of the antediluvian cult
The accursed infinity of the pits in which the rats had feasted
Hearing the eldritch scurrying of those fiend-born vermin
Endless in their questing for untold horrors
Determined to lead me further unto those grinning caverns
There where Nyarlathotep howls blindly
To the piping of the horrid flutes
Hear the voices, and the yowls, and the insidious scurrying,
The vicious and ravenous army that feasts on those dead and those living
The demon rats that beckon me further down to the greater horrors
